FAR AWAY!!
by DMack on Jul.25, 2010
Rockstar Games has released a video of José González performing Far Away, from Red Dead Redemption.
Music is a huge part of videogames, and that’s a detail that the guys at Rockstar absolutely grasp.
SKREAM ON ‘EM!!!!!!!!!
by DMack on Jul.24, 2010
Croydon’s dubstep juggernaut has been BUSY. Between Magnetic Man and his upcoming album, “Outside the Box”, Skream is killing it right now.
Here’s the new official video for Listenin’ to the Records on My Wall, from Skream’s new album, out August 9.
Meanwhile, there’s a video out for Perfect Stranger, by Magnetic Man x Katy B. Last time Katy B worked with Benga, we got Katy on a Mission, and I STILL can’t stop listening to that fire.
Skream’s been doing it for a minute, and his efforts are paying off bigtime. Magnetic man might be the first dubstep act to be signed to a major label, but we’ve already seen the likes of Chase & Status producing beats for Rihanna. Between brostep and the kind of accessible vocal dubstep we’re hearing from Katy B, it’s got some people feeling uneasy about the future of the genre. I’m glad they’re getting their money, this is good-ass music – but I can see where the bloggers are coming from. I don’t want to have to fight through an arena crowd the next time Datsik or Rusko comes to town. The grime nights here in Victoria are full of underground weirdos and that’s the way I like it! I’m not too concerned, though. Innovators tend to keep innovating.
YOUNG BLOOD!!!!
by DMack on Jul.18, 2010
Woah, where did the weekend go? This is The Naked and Famous, from New Zealand, with Young Blood. The Naked and Famous’ debut album, “Passive Me, Aggressive You” is due out this August. Keep your eyes peeled.

Would you rather be famous or naked? Food for thought.
Here’s a weird one: Hey Champ – Neverest
Dolphins, man. I dunno. I love the vocalist’s belaboured look of distress and confusion.
ALL SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by DMack on Jul.14, 2010
Just graduated from Cudi all day to Cudi all summer long.
All Summer is a collaboration from Kid Cudi, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend for the Converse shoe company. Check out the Converse website to download an mp3 of “All Summer”, and for more details about the project.
The track is mega catchy, and the video features some of those creepy papercraft head masks!
I NEED AIR!!!
by DMack on Jul.10, 2010
Hey dudes, here’s a couple big big big ones for yous.
Magnetic Man – I Need Air
Magnetic Man is a dubstep supergroup made up of Skream, Benga and Artwork. After Skream murdered Glastonbury with this one, they’ve got an official video out. The video is basically just a bunch of live footage, but it’s really fitting because the song sounds like an utter dancefloor destroyer. Predictably, the record is blowing up and there have been a few remixes released already, but I like the original one best.
Benga also produced the beat for this one, Katy On A Mission by Katy B
I’m in love with this one.
Escape
by Joyce on Jul.06, 2010
The internet in Iqaluit is SO unbelievably shitty that I don’t even want to waste my time ranting about it so I’m just going to casually move along.
I feel like I haven’t posted a remix so I bring to you the Bloody Beetroots take on Toxic Avenger’s Escape. We all know that the Bloody Beetroots put out some crazy tunes and it’s always awesome to hear how some artists can just pump up and add their on style to other musicians’ work.
Also, this tune just sounds like a night of fun and dancing in strobe and black lights.
Posting is very limited for me but Duncan is doing an awesome job as usual so I’m not worried but this shitty Youtube video is basically all you get haha.
DON’T YOU WORRY!!!

Your boy’s been on a huge witch house kick lately, so why not celebrate this long weekend (if you’re lucky enough to have a long weekend) with some weird and creepy videos?
Right off the bat, the new iamamiwhoami is a banger:

The project remains pretty much shrouded in mystery, as seems to be the modus operandi for so many Swedish electronic artists, but we can be sure of two things: it’s a cavalcade of insane eyelash enhancements, and it’s proper good music.
Zola Jesus is an artist from Phoenix that I’m just getting into. She’s got kind of a Fever Ray sound, at least in terms of big-room echo effects and deep, downtempo beats. No crazy vocal effects to make things spooky, but she more than makes up for it with the addition of a droning echo-chorus in the background. This is Zola Jesus – Night
Finally, I’ve got to share something by ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ. ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ is a part of the prolific drag collective Mater Suspiria Vision (you’ll have better luck googling that than the series of symbols). Together with Cosmotropia de Xam, they produce what they call “Zombie Rave” music videos and mixtapes, which are kind of distorted and screwed-up remixes. In fact, their third mixtape comes out TOMORROW, for a limited number of free downloads, so keep an eye on them if you’re interested. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?

I’m really excited about this, and everybody I’ve tried to share it with so far has told me straight up that they do not like it. True story. Does that make us Mater Suspiria Vision fans kindred spirits or just weirdos?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
