WE GOT MORE!!

by on Dec.11, 2010

It’s getting close to the end of the year! Keep an eye stuff in the next few weeks, I’ll try to figure out my opinions on the best stuff of the year (or something). Here’s your FRIDAY FIX

Katy B & Ms. Dynamite – Lights On (Skream remix)

Shooooot, the Skreamix of Lights On sounds delightful!

Eskimo – We Got More

A very cool video by Cyriak, whose crazy recursive animation work you will probably recognize, whether or not you know him by name.

Dr. Dre – Kush (feat. Snoop Dogg & Akon)

I don’t need to post this, but the release of this video is an event. It’s great to see Dre in something other than a commercial. The one where he’s got a CGI robot face mask for HP/Beats Laptops is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen him do. Kush, on the other hand, is a fitting reward for our twelve years of patience. The scene is full of green and orange club lights, expensive dranks and sexy women; with Snoop Dogg looking at home right in the middle of it all. Nate Dogg’s simple hook effortlessly promotes it from banger to full-on earworm – Kush is the spiritual sequel to The Next Episode. And how apropos…

CLOSE YOUR EYES!!!!

by on Dec.05, 2010

I really love this remix of Marina and the Diamonds’ Obsessions by oOoOO. This haunting, witchy remix comes a bit late in the game, but that ensures that the tune remains a screamer even here at the tail end of 2010.

Marina & the Diamonds – Obsessions (oOoOO remix)

Marina and the Diamonds – Obsessions (oOoOO Remix) – word to Hypetrak

The Bullitts – Close Your Eyes (feat. Jay Electronica) is a pretty interesting animal. It features a verse from Jay Electronica that fits in pretty well, and it’s got a sort of spoken word narration by Lucy Liu. It all comes together pretty nicely, accompanied with those Chien Andalou clips I always hate to watch.

You and I

by on Dec.03, 2010

You and I comes off of Medina‘s debut international album Welcome to Medina ( all her previous albums have all been in Danish) and it’s doing pretty well on the U.K charts, even heard it a little on some Canadian radio stations. This isn’t really surprising as she’s got a nice voice and it pairs up well with those euro-electronica/pop beats.  Now, add a little Deadmau5 into the mix and you’ve got a full blown stone cold killah!

I also heard the original danish version of the song and I like it! Check it out, it even has a video on the tube. Nothing quite beats listening to a song and liking it while not understanding a single word.

“Did I just hear the word ‘milk’? Nope, this is definitely just Danish”

Electricity

by on Dec.02, 2010

The Avalanches have been in the game for awhile which isn’t surprising with their always fresh electronic beats that make them forever relevant in the world of turntablism. Electricity comes off of their 2000 album Since I Left You. Where do I even begin with this album?  Just so smooth, you can put it on repeat and just go. Tunes that I recommend would have to be Stay Another Season, Frontier Psychiatrist and well…basically you just have to listen to the entire album. Oh, and these guys are awesome live.

Good things come out of Australia, I tell ya!

Listen to the entire album on Grooveshark then go buy it if you like it :)
