40 DAY DREAM!!!!!!

by on Feb.27, 2011

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have, at long last, posted the much-anticipated third instalment in their SALVO! 12-part video opera. In case you forgot, we left off with Edward escaping from prison (get caught up on the story at their vimeo page), and hiding from their pursuers. In 40 Day Dream, they meet Jade and the rest of the Magnetic Zeros.

MOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

by on Feb.25, 2011

There’s a new Movits! video out this week for their swingin’ single Sammy Davis Jr.

I love it! And not just because it’s Swedish! Even though it’s a three-piece, the song and the video share a sort of big-band aesthetic that reminds me of that one Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra video. I guess it’s the ENERGY.

Donald Glover is PROLIFIC. Childish Gambino has yet another release coming out soon, and a tour in the works. Check out the video for the first single from the upcoming EP. This is Freaks & Geeks

Childish Gambino’s IAMDONALD tour hits Vancouver on April 22, check thaaatttttt.

YEAH BUDDY!!!!!

by on Feb.18, 2011

Pulled Apart By Horses have done a mighty fine video for their grunge-dance track Yeah Buddy.

It’s cheap and effective. A good way to be!

BY THE WAY, there’s a two-disc version of the new Crystal Castles self-titled album that includes the fantastic single version of Not In Love that features Robert Smith from The Cure.

JUKING LIKE YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by on Feb.11, 2011

Some mornings, I wake up wondering what Rye Rye is up to. Turns out, she is in some kind of dance practice space, juking to her own remix of Party in the USA.

BUMPIN’ BUMPIN’!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by on Feb.07, 2011

The Death Set is one of my favourite bands right now. Their latest video, Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap walks you through the intricacies of a secret handshake. Try it with your dads and BFFs!

If furiously catchy dance-punk with electronic breakdowns piques your interest, check out The Death Set’s new album, “Michel Poiccard”, on March 15th.

I can’t tell if this song is terrible or excellent. This is Bumpin’ Bumpin’, by Kreayshawn.

I think I just like it for the scene at 2:55 where Kreayshawn is pointing out the window at a random dude on the street while bobbing her head. That’s a LEGIT party move.

The Best Gift EVER!

by on Feb.05, 2011

So I was planning to have this done by the New Year buuuut I’m not very good with personal deadlines.

I present to you the ultimate Weekend Bangers playlist! It contains 384 songs going back to our first post in October of 2009 to December 31st 2010. We of course have posted way more songs then that but alas Grooveshark’s library is just too limited for our too edgie and obscure taste…so sad, so sad.

Now you can all enjoy every mostly all the songs we’ve posted in the past by going to Grooveshark and searching for Weekend Bangers under playlists.

I sound like a salesperson…BUT DO IT! You’ll love every second of it ;)
