Easter Weekend
by Annie on Apr.01, 2010
Hey! I hope you’re all well. So what does everyone has planned for this long weekend? Nothing planned for me (yet?) and I don’t have much to share at the moment so I’ll just update you guys on what I’ve been listening to.
Windom Earle, an awesome Canadian band from Halifax pumping out new wave synth pop like nobody’s business:
Florence+The Machine:
Los Campesinos!:
Mew:
& Mogwai:
Enjoy and have a wonderful long weekend everyone
Where the Wild Things Are
by Annie on Sep.13, 2009
Hello! It’s been a long break for me, I know. But life has been busy. So I don’t know if anyone else wants to watch Where the Wild Things Are as much as I do but I certainly remember reading this book back in elementary school. Anyone else? I think that the Arcade Fire’s Wake-Up goes with the movie so well and I’ve been listening to it non-stop for a couple days now.
I also died a little when I learned that Amiina has their new album out. These girls are amazing and the music that they produce is perfection. Although the new album only has 3 tracks I had difficultly finding the song I wanted to post. So instead I posting, Ásinn, one of their new songs. But if you do decide to look into it or purchase their new cd I highly suggest Risturinn.
I’m just sitting on the shelf

It’s been awhile friends, I’ve been busy making teeth.
There are tons of actors/actresses turn singers and some are hits while most are misses. I was a little skeptical at first but now I think Zooey Deschanel has such a unique voice that really grows on you. Zooey Deschanel makes up 50% of She and Him while the other half is M.Ward. Lookout for these 2, big things are coming their way.
Speaking of gorgeous and talented ladies, Little Boots is another artist on the rise and someone to lookout for. Here is her song Remedy:
Have a great weekend everyone
Hugs’n'Kesses

Hi Friends, I have nothing clever to say so here’s one of my old weekend bangers I never got a chance to post. It’s another cover, but whateves…I think I like her version more anyways. Enjoy Moriarty’s cover of Enjoy the Silence.

I think I have Carpal Tunnel

I’m feeling greedy here posting another banger but it’s actually the weekend for real now so I think it’s OK. This time around I only have one track and I definitely have a theme with my posts.
1.) I really like covers
2.) I really like soft vocals (usually female) that can put you to sleep
This is Taken by Tree’s cover of Sweet Child O’ Mine.

The Answer Was Lupus

Well well well, look who it is…that’s right, your least favourite weekend-banger poster is back(ish). Although it’s the middle of the week right now I can’t help but the weekend vibe. Today was a pretty monumental day for me, I wrote half of my licensing examination. Can’t say I aced it but I think I did alright, enough rambling it’s not as if anyone asked to hear or know about it right. SO, I think I’ve accumulated a couple great tracks during my hiatus. First off a little something from M83, Kim and Jessie, an awesome track for the summer days coming up real quick.
Side note: I first heard of M83 many years ago on Much Music’s show The Wedge. It was a Friday late night show so it fit in perfectly with my oh so social high schooler schedule.
We Own The Sky is another pretty neat track from the same album.
Beck’s Lost Cause is another banger I’ve grown quite fond of.
aaand just because I can:
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Just a bitch with a golden chain

Joyce loves the 80′s and I guess Duncan has his thing with the metallic new age year 2000 thing, and me? Right in between. The 90′s are making a come back, have we not seen all the hipsters everywhere wearing their acid wash jeans, high top sneakers and florescent shirts. I’m not so much of a fan of the 90′s fashions but I’m more into the music of the 90′s. Even though I grew up in the 90′s, I was much too young to appreciate all the thriving bands back then. But I eventually caught on (like 10 years later though). I don’t know about you but Sonic Youth’s Schizophrenia is a song I can listen to all weekend long (although the weekend is almost over!).
The Pixies, another great band from the 90′s. The song Where is my Mind was the perfect song to end of Fight Club. I picked Emmy the Great’s cover of the song cause I like her tamer version. Who doesn’t want to be tamed once in a while right?
Bonus: Not from the 90′s but whatever
Scream & Shout

Guys, is it Sunday already? You know what that means, there are only mere hours before my mock exam. Am I nervous? Yes. But will I finish? Most definitely. Anyways I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend, celebrating Easter and the end of lent. Ahem.
We Have Band – You Came Out
Dark was the Night
by Annie on Apr.04, 2009
A new blog location, a new month, a new season what more can we ask for? New weekend bangers of course. This week I have 2 bangers because I didn’t want to have to choose between the 2. Both tracks are from the album, Dark was the Night. “…[Dark is the Night is] comprised of 31 exclusive tracks…and will benefit the Red Hot Organization – an international charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS through popular culture.” Great music+Charities= A good thing (most of the time). I’ve been a huge huge fan of Bon Iver ever since For Emma, forever ago came out. I admit I wasn’t too impressed at first, his voice was obscenely higher than it should be. But it definately grew on me and he might not be for everyone but I think he creates the most beautifully sad songs I’ve ever listened to. It’s an accquired taste, try listening to something new :V
This is another track on the album that I absolutely love and cannot stop listening too. Once again the vocalist sounds a bit goofy but his voice grew on me. I like everything about this song, the lyrics the melody, the vocals you name it. This was the first song I’ve heard from the band Yeasayer and I can say that am greatly impressed. When I first watched this video I thought the guy in the white wife beater was actually a scary looking woman with a ‘stache but upon closer inspection I realized it was a dude with some unfortunate looking hair and manbreasts.
Wishing never solved the problem so give it, give it, give it, give it, give it until you just can’t give no more. Have a nice weekend everyone.
Mini Weekend
by Annie on Mar.24, 2009
I had a banger all picked out for this past weekend but I was just too lazy to post. But no issues I’m having a mini weekend now (who doesn’t love having Tuesdays off?) so I’ll post my banger too. So far, today has been a pretty bad day but hey this blog is for bangers only so I’ll save my bitching for another blog/person/whatever. I instantly fell in love with Lykke Li after hearing her live street performance of Little Bit and immediately started listening to Youth Novels nonstop. So I guess you can say I was delighted when I found out about her collaboration track with Kleerup and more than deeeelighted when I listened to the track. So wherever you are, at school at work at home or I want you guys to know I wish you a happy mini weekend (don’t forget, there are only 3 more days until the fo’ realz weekend).
