Stadium Love

by on Mar.13, 2009

Hello Friends! I don’t know about you guys, but it feels like the days and weeks have been flying by. This week was especially tiring for me and it’s not even over yet (spoiler: it never ends), I still have to go to school tomorrow and then I finally have a day off to recover. DE-pressing, I know. This week I have a banger from Metric’s new album, Fantasies. The album comes out April 14th…Metric fans will love this album and I suggest those who aren’t already their fans give this album comes out on it’s release date. (A) For those lucky enough, start enjoying your weekend for me.

Edit: I keep forgetting to post this but check out this amazing site http://www.theplaceswelive.com/

reading week fail

by on Mar.03, 2009

Has a week gone by ALREADY? My reading week flew by, literally. As usual I accomplished nothing except maybe watching a few more hours of television than normal. And now I’m miserably back to school, slaving away day after day of 13 hour days. Anyways here is a banger Duncan requested I post for everyone to enjoy. (I have no idea what is happening in the video or what it’s even about)

Yesss, reading week is finally here.
Let me celebrate with my reading week jammers. It’s a little hard to see the titles with my super ~~ASIAN-KAWAII~~ mp3 player, so in order we have I Lost My Colour Vision by Burning Hearts, My Protector by Fleet Foxes (as recommended to me by my classmate Karla) and a modern classic, Buddy Holly by Weezer (do you remember the music video of this song on your win95 computers? I certainly do). Other than that I don’t have much more to say, enjoy your week and I’ll enjoy my reading week.

midnight delight

To make up for my lack of posts, I’m doing what all the cool kids are doing. Multiple bangers. Lately I’ve been spending waaaaay too much time at school stressin’ over this and that. But a wise person advised me to listen to some ‘whale music’…I didn’t quite know what sort of music she meant so I’m opting for the next best thing. Ambiance or music I like to sleep to, stuff that totally relaxes you. So here is my pick of Sigur Ros’ goobledigook (I thought it said goobleDICK at first)

No matter how much I try to avoid it, reminders of it is always around. Yes, I am talking about V-Day. Do you remember in elementary school when you bought Valentine’s Day cards for your classmates and then there were those kids that you didn’t really like and didn’t want to give cards to but had to so you just gave them the uglier looking cards?…Anyways my point is do you remember where they all are now? Exactly. Valentine’s day, the big stinkin’ corporate holiday only looking out to cash in. Now I don’t even know how this song relates but it makes me feel better about being single on this stupid scam of a ‘holiday’.

btw, don’t forget that you are all loved and wanted and you don’t need a stupid corporate holiday to make you question it. and yes, even you ben.

out of your leauge

Although the beginning of this song sounds suspiciously like that awful laffy taffy song, (for refernce: http://www.imeem.com/people/ulDiI/music/h6nNT0tY/d4l_laffy_taffy/)it’s better. Well at least I think so. During this freezing cold weekend in Toronto I hope everyone is giving some true affection to the ones they love.

True Affection – The Blow

Bonus track! Personally I dislike Dallas Green and his newly married wife (you know who she is, that ditzy much music “host”) even more, but I can’t help but think that this song of his is really sweet.

P.S. I think he looks like a total jerk with those old man glasses of his…I don’t care if they’re prescription of not.

Wissssconsin

by on Jan.17, 2009

Winter is still here in full blast, I know this personally because for the past few days I’ve been wearing TWO pairs of socks and TWO pairs of pants to school. This song reminds me of a nice quiet Wisconsin winter morning…not that I’ve been to Wisconsin. But I’m sure it’s a lovely place, just like this song by Brightblack Morning Light. BTW I highly suggest you don’t watch this video with your mother in the room. AHEM =)

are you straight or are you gay?

Just in time to post, the weekend isn’t over just yet. I never know what to post on here so I just end up posting songs I like aaaand I’m sure everyone hates my choices. But whatever, you can just hate ME but not Belle and Sebastian.

BTW, good job to either Duncan or Joyce (or both!) for revamping this site. It looks great :)

’08 redux

I know I haven’t posted in awhile and I don’t have any amazing new songs/artists I’ve recently discovered or whatEVER. But since this it the time to say farewell to 2008 I decided to post and share my banger of the YEAR (according to last.fm). I’ve been a huge fan of Rilo Kiley since the beginning of high school and still am a big fan. So here’s to 2009, the 8th year I’ve been listening to this fantastic band.

Hi, remember me? I apologize for letting Joyce and Duncan down, as well as our biggest fan Ben for not posting what feels like a month or more. You guys will have to forgive me because I was this -> <- close to killing myself just to avoid the mega stresses of school. I was spending 12 hours days 5 days a week at school and worrying about everything. Thankfully winter break couldn't have come at a better time so the banger I've chosen (a little late, I know) is Gravity Rides Everything by Modest Mouse. It's pretty much about letting life ride out and everything will be where it's supposed to be.

by on Nov.23, 2008

Hey guys, Ben would really me to inform all you readers out there about our good friend Mac Dre (July 5, 1970 – November 1, 2004). Today is only 21 days away from the anniversary of his death, so just thizz out, and listen to a few choice bangers from a musician who’s gotten us through some tough times.

I’m glad I could include Ben, he was telling me how hurt he is feeling about not being a poster here. I’M GLAD I COULD STOP YOUR TEARS BEN.
