Where Did the Night Fall

by Joyce on Sep.02, 2010

Wow finally back home after living in Canada’s Arctic for 4 months!

On my flight back home I flew with Air Canada Jazz where I surprisingly had a vast array of music to choose from as part of the XM radio music deal as well as movies and television choices. I found myself listening to UNKLE‘s album entitled ‘Where Did the Night Fall’. The entire album was perfect for listening in the air which I assume is the reason it got promoted in such a way.

Among the track list, The Answer featuring Big in Japan came to be one of my favorite bangers on the album, which by the way is their fifth studio album. Heavy drug which is only 1:13 minutes long  makes a nice mix as well as a beautiful introduction for the track Caged Bird that follows right after it.

Here’s The Answer ft Big in Japan. Music starts at around 1:40

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the album!

Gah it’s good to be home :)

Escape

by Joyce on Jul.06, 2010

The internet in Iqaluit is SO unbelievably shitty that I don’t even want to waste my time ranting about it so I’m just going to casually move along.

I feel like I haven’t posted a remix so I bring to you the Bloody Beetroots take on  Toxic Avenger’s Escape. We all know that the Bloody Beetroots put out some crazy tunes and it’s always awesome to hear how some artists can just pump up and add their on style to other musicians’ work.

Also, this tune just sounds like a night of fun and dancing in strobe and black lights.

Posting is very limited for me but Duncan is doing an awesome job as usual so I’m not worried  but this shitty Youtube video is basically all you get haha.

We Are Water

by Joyce on Jun.04, 2010

Eric Wareheim from Tim and Eric Awesome show, a show that Duncan greatly supports and loves, has been dipping his hands in directing music videos and HEALTH’s We are Water just got added to the list.

Top notch video and song!

I’m still working up in Iqaluit so posts are still expected to be short and sweet

Tell No One About Tonight

by Joyce on May.23, 2010

Le Sport is a lil pop band from Sweden so Duncan is probably going to automatically like them.

I actually don’t know much about the band but you can check out their MySpace here. I’ve been listening to a lot of their songs and I feel like they’re still experimenting with their sound but I like their song Tell No One About Tonight because it gives me an 80′s vibe and anyone  who knows me knows I love the 80′s.

You Wish

by Joyce on May.10, 2010

Hello everyone, I’m in Iqaluit for the next 4 months so posts might be random and less frequent but I’ll do my best to not let you down!

Nightmares on Wax not only reminds me of my horrible dislike for wax museums but also helps me groove and relax to his experimental soul jams. You Wish comes off of the Dj’s 2006 album In a Space Outta Sound and it’s one of those songs that you can just chill out and do nothing to.

You can listen to the entire album as well as his other great tracks for free right here. Passion is another one of my favorites.

Sierra Leone

by Joyce on May.02, 2010

Got some awesome dubstep for everyone.

So I’m browsing on Youtube where I find this account called MtEdenDnB08 and man do they have fresh tracks on that thing! From what I have gathered, Mt Eden is a dubstep group comprised of Jesse and Harley from New Zealand (impressive right?). They’re dropping fresh tracks on their channel yet don’t seem to have a myspace page or any other sort of band site…

Tactical thinking? Perhaps.

You can add them on facebook and/or subscribe to their youtube channel.

Mt Eden – Sierra Leone

Don’t forget to check out their Youtube account for more tracks, you won’t be disappointed.

The High Road

by Joyce on Apr.19, 2010

Hello everyone! Hope we’re in the mood for some smooth jams. This weekend is all about taking it easy and relaxing…at least for me since I’m finally done my exams and that’s how I do things.

Broken Bells, which is actually comprised of Danger Mouse and lead singer from the Shins James Mercer(two things I already love) , have already put out their album Broken Bells and I’m digging it.

Here’s the song The High Road from their album.

The Ghost Inside is also a good listen.
Listen at GrooveShark.

Never In Order

Two Door Cinema Club – What You Know

Junior Boys – Parallel Lines

Starky – Hey Bang Bang

Valerie, Friends and the Sea

by Joyce on Mar.27, 2010

Got a lot of work this week so I’m just grooving out to some Presets.

Girl and the Sea is a great tune and has an awesome video  ↓

BUT ALSO:

VALERIE AND FRIENDS

Have I talked about the Valerie and Friends album? If I haven’t then i’m ashamed of myself because it’s totally awesome. Every single track on that thing is pure love. It’s a compilation album featuring the likes of Minitel Rose, Anoorak, Jupiter, College and much more all under the name of Valerie Collective. You can listen to the entire album on Grooveshark right here. DO IT!

SOME PICKS FROM THE ALBUM

Loose Shus – Red Sonja

Electric Youth – Faces

The Outrunners – Runaways
