Hurting

by on Dec.27, 2011

Friendly Fires‘  music video for Hurting will either have you bursting out laughing or saying WTF within the first 15 seconds.

Hurting comes off of the band’s most recent album Pala.

The tune is excellent and the video is definitely a must-see.

Enjoy your Holidays people!

Wicked Games

by on Jul.27, 2011

So last weekend my brother made me listen to this song called Wicked Games by The Weeknd and I knew I just had to share it with everyone. You might remember Duncan posting his song  The Morning not too long ago.

The Weeknd is a Toronto based R&B singer by the name of Abel Tesfaye and his first album House of Balloons is up for free download on his site ( it’s basically the only thing you can do on the website).

The album has got 9 tracks including The Morning and Wicked Games. Wicked Games is still probably one of my favorites though.

Big things are coming from this dude, just wait.

We All Try

by on Jun.27, 2011

Dammit I can’t believe Duncan beat me to making the Frank Ocean post! Oh well, I guess the boy’s really got our attention this weekend and I’m not changing my mind on my banger.

Duncan’s favorite track off Ocean’s Nostalgia,ULTRA album might be American Wedding but mine would have to be We All Try.

The song has been on repeat all week and it already has a video too!

Listen to both Duncan and I when we say you gotta peak at this album!

Japan

by on Jun.06, 2011

Plastician, a DJ from lovely London, puts down some  really smooth and mellow beats. He has a beautiful song entitled Japan and it’s just one of the tunes that he’s got me hooked on. It’s track #10 off of his Beg To Differ album. Have a listen!

If you like what you hear then I highly recommend you check out his site for some more grime and dubstep candy!

Put It Back Down

by on May.28, 2011

Seymour Bits is on the case with Put It Back Down

The video is pretty awesome/weird as you follow the journey of some pickle chicken thing.  Also, a cameo of some kind of weird octopussy creature? Yup, pretty weird.

This jam is tight though!

Last Night

by on Apr.16, 2011

One of the ways I discover music is actually by clicking through youtube videos and seeing where I end up. It’s more of a game really but last night I started by listening to some Lykke Li and somehow ended up finding this sweet drum and bass tune by a band called the Brookes Brothers.

The two brothers hail from the UK and, as it turns out, have been on the music scene since 2002. Check out their facebook and myspace pages to learn more and hear some more great stuff.

Here’s Last Night, just one of the duo’s SOLID DnB tracks

Another sweet gem I found was this smooth track called Empty Streets by Cyantific who coincidently also hails from the UK. Turns out there’s some pretty sick DnB dj’s from good ol’ England incase you weren’t aware.

Anyways, this is a big tune so check it out!

The Best Gift EVER!

by on Feb.05, 2011

So I was planning to have this done by the New Year buuuut I’m not very good with personal deadlines.

I present to you the ultimate Weekend Bangers playlist! It contains 384 songs going back to our first post in October of 2009 to December 31st 2010. We of course have posted way more songs then that but alas Grooveshark’s library is just too limited for our too edgie and obscure taste…so sad, so sad.

Now you can all enjoy every mostly all the songs we’ve posted in the past by going to Grooveshark and searching for Weekend Bangers under playlists.

I sound like a salesperson…BUT DO IT! You’ll love every second of it ;)

You and I

by on Dec.03, 2010

You and I comes off of Medina‘s debut international album Welcome to Medina ( all her previous albums have all been in Danish) and it’s doing pretty well on the U.K charts, even heard it a little on some Canadian radio stations. This isn’t really surprising as she’s got a nice voice and it pairs up well with those euro-electronica/pop beats.  Now, add a little Deadmau5 into the mix and you’ve got a full blown stone cold killah!

I also heard the original danish version of the song and I like it! Check it out, it even has a video on the tube. Nothing quite beats listening to a song and liking it while not understanding a single word.

“Did I just hear the word ‘milk’? Nope, this is definitely just Danish”
