Can’t See Straight

by Joyce on Feb.25, 2010

Wow my posts have been coming in huge gaps, I apologize for this. As a consequence my weekend bangers list just keeps growing so consider this the ultimate getting-back-on-track week.

It’ll be filled with knockouts; as usual.

Yeasayer is here with their brand new video for the song Ambling Alp. Love love love them! First time I heard them was way back in April when Annie posted the song Tight Rope on a previous post. The video is definitely a must watch and that’s why I’m featuring it here. Very interesting video but I think it’s fitting.

Good news Ottawa! Woodhands is coming on April 8th at Mavericks! Saw these guys back at the blues fest and it’ll definitely be worth it.

Don’t forgot to check out their myspace to hear some other fine tunes and buy the album!

Instant Love

White Lies – Death [vimeo]
Pendulum – Hold Your Colour [ mp3 filestube]
Empire of the Sun – Half Mast [mp3 zshare]

**I found that live video for the white lies and decided to post it instead of an mp3 cause I thought it was way worth it. They’re really good live.

Anyways, I think it’s safe to say that we’re trying to shy away from posting youtube videos because they are so unreliable sometimes. On that note: Expect another post as soon as tomorrow!

I’ll be sitting by the water fountain

by Joyce on Oct.11, 2009

Because I didn’t post anything last week…

Put Yeasayer on your radar. Their experimental rock/psychedelic pop is exactly the type of feeling you need to experience throughout the week. Just sit outside and look at those changing Autumn leaves while listening to their song 2080 and you’ll know what I mean.
The song comes off of their 2007 album entitled All Hour Cymbals. Check it out.

This video was a fanmade vid I found on youtube…

Download this mp3 for free via their website here.

Listen good

Dark was the Night

by Annie on Apr.04, 2009

A new blog location, a new month, a new season what more can we ask for? New weekend bangers of course. This week I have 2 bangers because I didn’t want to have to choose between the 2. Both tracks are from the album, Dark was the Night. …[Dark is the Night is] comprised of 31 exclusive tracks…and will benefit the Red Hot Organization – an international charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS through popular culture.” Great music+Charities= A good thing (most of the time). I’ve been a huge huge fan of Bon Iver ever since For Emma, forever ago came out. I admit I wasn’t too impressed at first, his voice was obscenely higher than it should be. But it definately grew on me and he might not be for everyone but I think he creates the most beautifully sad songs I’ve ever listened to. It’s an accquired taste, try listening to something new :V

This is another track on the album that I absolutely love and cannot stop listening too. Once again the vocalist sounds a bit goofy but his voice grew on me. I like everything about this song, the lyrics the melody, the vocals you name it. This was the first song I’ve heard from the band Yeasayer and I can say that am greatly impressed. When I first watched this video I thought the guy in the white wife beater was actually a scary looking woman with a ‘stache but upon closer inspection I realized it was a dude with some unfortunate looking hair and manbreasts.

Wishing never solved the problem so give it, give it, give it, give it, give it until you just can’t give no more.  Have a nice weekend everyone.
